Sergio Aguero has come under fire for the way he protested against a lineswoman during Manchester City's 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday. After contesting a ball near the corner flag, the Argentine was disappointed to see Sian Massey-Ellis give the decision Arsenal's way.
In response, he confronted the official, making gestures before putting his arm around her neck as she walked away. The lineswoman, unhappy with the action, ushered Aguero away straight away.
In the media, Aguero faced a backlash for his actions from several reputable figures in the English game.
Ian Wright described the moment as "unnecessary" and "condescending" on Aguero's part on the BBC's Match of the Day programme.
Pep Guardiola, however, chose to defend his striker's actions.
"Come on guys. Sergio is the nicest person I ever met in my life. Look for problems in other situations, not in this one," Guardiola told the press afterwards.
