It doesn't seem like manager Jose Mourinho is giving them much hope of success against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup either, in a game you can hear live on talkSPORT, at 7:45pm.
Just two days after their controversial draw with Newcastle United and two days ahead of their vital Europa League play-off with Maccabi Haifa, they clash with their London foes in the League Cup.
It's a rivalry which is becoming increasingly bitter and having lost twice to Frank Lampard, his former player at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho will not want to let them have further bragging rights in west London.
However, the state of the fixture congestion means Spurs are set to make an incredible 11 changes to the team which looked so good, but ultimately failed to take three points on Sunday.
No Harry Kane, no Heung-Min Son, no Eric Dier, or Giovani Lo Celso, but perhaps a debut for new signing Sergio Reguilon if the Portuguese is looking for positives.
More shocking though is the news that Dele Alli is absent once again, according the The Telegraph, as his battle to make the starting XI continues.
"I would like to fight for the Carabao (Cup) but I don't think I can," Mourinho said.
"We have a game on Thursday that gives us not as much money as the Champions League but the group phase of the Europa League gives us a certain amount that, for a club like us, is very important.
"It's a competition with a possible group phase that gives us a good chance to go through to the next knockout stage so this game on Thursday is very important for us.
"I think you can imagine that with a game on Thursday that decides a very important thing for us, I think the EFL made a decision for us.
"They didn't even create a problem - they made a decision for us. So that's the decision."
Lampard, though, with an extra day of rest ahead of the game, and no fixture until Saturday is able to name a full strength team if he so wishes.
But even he still fears the depth Spurs have.
"When I analyse Tottenham and know the squad they have, and analyse what might be a team which didn't play 90 minutes (against Newcastle) yesterday, they have a fantastic squad," he pointed out.
"I feel any squad Jose puts out can be very strong."
Tottenham team news
Spurs are now without forward Son for the foreseeable future after he injured his hamstring against Newcastle.
Moussa Sissoko did not make the bench against his former club on Sunday, pulling out late on due to illness but should be able to start if required.
Japhet Tanganga is in training but may not be fit to start, just like loan signing Gareth Bale, who rehabbing a knee issue.
There will be almost an entirely new team taking to the field with Reguilon in line for a debut as well as rare starts for Juan Foyth and Gedson Fernandes.
Alli will not play as Mourinho continues his exile.

Regular fixtures like Mason Mount may get a rest for the round of 16 tie, but it's expected a strong side will be out with the club keen for silverware after their incredible expenditure this summer.
Victor Moses, meanwhile, is back with Chelsea following his loan spell at Inter Milan, but as yet is not training within the first-team squad bubble.
