Manchester United warn Borussia Dortmund they will walk away from Jadon Sancho deal if they do not lower £108million valuation
Manchester United are refusing to be held to ransom by Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho.

The Premier League giants remain keen to sign Sancho but talkSPORT understands they are not willing to meet the £108million valuation set by Dortmund and will end their pursuit of the player if they do not lower their demands.

Dortmund have set a deadline of August 10 to get Sancho's future sorted.

United, though, will not be bullied into agreeing a deal before then and are adamant they will walk away from the move should the Bundesliga club not budge on their valuation.

The £108m fee being demanded by Dortmund would put Sancho among the most expensive footballers of all time.

That is deemed to be excessive by United in the current climate, given the tough financial conditions and uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Dortmund paid just over £7m to sign Sancho from Manchester City in 2017 and he has yet to make 100 appearances in the professional game.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the club's hierarchy are also understood to have concerns regarding Sancho's salary.

United are not prepared to smash their wage structure for the former City starlet following the failed transfer of Alexis Sanchez.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has worked hard to create a good harmony in the dressing room and it is understood United do not want to risk causing unrest by paying Sancho more than other more established senior players.

United are ready to pursue alternative signings if a deal for Sancho fails to materialise.

Asked about Sancho in his press conference on Tuesday, Solskjaer was giving little away about United's interest in the young attacker.

"This transfer window is a long one and every transfer takes its course," the United boss said.

"It is what it is. At the moment, I've got no updates for you anyway so if there's any news, we'll update you."
