AC Milan and Monaco battling to sign Tottenham star Serge Aurier as Serie A giants held talks with agent last summer
The Tottenham right-back featured heavily under Jose Mourinho last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions.
Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters, who spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Southampton, are Spurs' only senior right-backs.
And it is understood Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will only sell Aurier if he recoups the £23million fee the club paid Paris Saint-German for the defender in 2017.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims the Ivory Coast international is on Milan's wish list this summer.
On Saturday, Milan technical director Paolo Maldini confirmed the Serie A giants held talks with Aurier's agent last year.
He said: "We spoke to his agent last year.
"We think about ending the season well, then in these three weeks we have to operate on the market."
Meanwhile, Monaco are believed to be admirers of Aurier.
Former Tottenham transfer chief Paul Mitchell, who is the French club's sporting director now, is keen to bring the 27-year-old to Ligue 1.
Last month, Aurier tragically lost his brother, who was shot in the stomach in the Thibaud area of Toulouse.
Despite the heartbreaking news, Aurier played in Tottenham's next game against Newcastle and earned praise from his manager.
