Liverpool 'on verge of finalising deal for £9m-rated Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi' as Dejan Lovren replacement
The 28-year-old has just one year left on his contract and could be a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who joined Zenit Saint Petersburg for £10.9million last week.
beIN SPORTS say the Premier League champions are on the verge of completing a £9m deal to bring Mandi to Anfield.
Newcastle are also believed to be monitoring Mandi's situation.
The Algeria centre-half, who can play as a full-back, made 29 LaLiga appearances as Betis finished 15th last season.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are Jurgen Klopp's first-team centre-halves as it stands.
However, the Liverpool boss could be left with just two if Matip, who has been linked with a shock £50m move to Paris Saint-Germain, leaves.
Last month, Klopp appeared to play down Liverpool's summer transfer activity by insisting he was '100 per cent happy' with his current squad.
