Emiliano Martinez vs Willy Caballero: It
Willy Caballero and Emiliano Martinez are set to do battle this weekend as Chelsea take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final - a match that has been dubbed the 'battle of the backups'.

The Wembley showpiece - which is LIVE on talkSPORT - promises to be an intriguing encounter with both Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard hoping to win the first major trophy of their short managerial careers.

But how have both goalkeepers found themselves between the sticks this season?

Having moved to Chelsea from Athletic Bilbao for a world-record £71million back in 2018, Kepa Arrizabalaga has struggled to make an impression in west London and Caballero has displaced him in the line-up.

His form has been so poor he actually boasts the worst save percentage of any goalkeeper in Premier League history to play 10+ games, with a save rate of just 54.5 per cent, putting him in 730th out of 730 goalkeepers.

The Spaniard kept just eight clean sheets in Premier League in 2019/20, while the Blues have had just ONE shut-out away from home all season.

And Lampard, not for the first time this season, decided to drop him in the 2-0 victory over Wolves last weekend.

This is a stark contrast to Martinez, however, who has been a revelation in goal for the Gunners.

After Bernd Leno sustained a season-ending knee injury when he clashed with Brighton's Neal Maupay, the Argentine goalkeeper has deputised spotlessly and is set to keep his place for Saturday's clash.

He has played so well that Arsenal fans even think their German no.1 may have a battle on his hands to get his spot back when he regains full fitness.

Interestingly, other reports have suggested that Martinez could even be poached by Chelsea this summer as they look to replace Kepa ahead of next term.

But how do the two goalkeepers compare in stats? talkSPORT.com has compared and contrasted the two Argentines ahead of the FA Cup final.

As seen by the data, Martinez (22) has played ten more matches than Caballero (12) and most of the pair's appearances have been since the restart.

The Gunners ace has kept nine clean sheets in that time, while the Chelsea stopper has kept just three in his 12 outings.

Martinez also boasts a better save percentage than his compatriot, saving 74.3 per cent of the shots he faces to Caballero's 60.5.

However, Martinez has made one error leading to a goal in his outings - something Caballero hasn't done.

The Chelsea goalkeeper concedes on average 1.25 goals per game, however, whilst Martinez has a better ratio with 0.95 per game.

With both London clubs boasting awful defensive records this campaign, the FA Cup final could be a match where both goalkeepers take centre-stage.

But who will prevail? Only time will tell.
