Cesc Fabregas snubs Pep Guardiola and names Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger as best managers he's worked with

talksport.com, 2 April 2020, 14:18
Cesc Fabregas has named Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho as the best managers that he's worked with during his career - delivering the ultimate snub to Pep Guardiola. The quicker we work together to stop coronavirus spreading, the sooner we can get back into the pub, the gyms and stadiums and arenas to see live sport again...

The Spaniard made his name at Arsenal under Wenger after leaving Barcelona's famed La Masia academy as a 16-year-old, but later returned to Camp Nou in 2011 for a fee of around £35million after excelling in north London.

On his return to the LaLiga giants, Fabregas was handed his preferred no.4 shirt by Guardiola and dazzled alongside Lionel Messi, totting up ten goals and nine assists in the 2011//12 campaign.

However, despite impressing in his first season back at Barca, Fabregas became a bit-part player for Guardiola the following campaigns, which ultimately saw him join Jose Mourinho's Chelsea in 2014.

And the 32-year-old had a hugely successful spell in west London, helping the club to two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and a League Cup during his five-year spell before leaving for Monaco.

But when quizzed about his former bosses on Instagram, Fabregas attempted to avoid the question, saying: "I had the best in the world, so I cannot complain."

But fans pushed for a proper answer and Fabregas eventually responded by saying: "Wenger and Mourinho."

The World Cup winner also recently admitted his switch to Chelsea was not the move he originally hoped for and was in fact keen on a return to Arsenal.

"My agent Darren Dein spoke to Arsene [Wenger], he didn't give him an answer to be honest, then we had to wait one full week to see if Arsenal responded," Fabregas told the Arsecast podcast.

Giving COVID-19 the red card

1. Practice social distancing by remaining two metres apart from others.

2. Wash your hands regularly

3. Self isolate if you have a fever or cough

Stay at home if you have either:

a high temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

a new, continuous cough - this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

The government has also issued its guidance on social distancing.

Everyone should do what they can to stop coronavirus spreading.

"Definitely this was my first option, in my mind I'm telling everyone I'm going to Arsenal, this is what I want.

"Arsene, [Ivan] Gazidis and everyone basically didn't say anything for a week. I didn't want to be a beggar.

"We told them once, they know the situation, if in one week they hadn't said anything… straightaway I knew that probably they didn't want me back."

Cesc Fabregas has named Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho as the best managers that he's worked with during his career - delivering the ultimate snub to Pep Guardiola.
