Olympique Marseille v RC Strasbourg predictions for this Coupe de France round of 16 match. Marseille have been revitalised this season under André Villas-Boas but can they perform as well in the cup as they have been doing in the league? Read on for our free Coupe de France predictions and betting tips.Â

Reason For Marseille vs Strasbourg Predictions

Marseille have won ten of their last twelve matches with seven wins in their last ten at the Stade Vélodrome.

At home they have been pretty goal hungry with them hitting the back of the net on 17 occasions in eleven matches but they have been rather suspect at the back with just three clean sheets in this time.

Strasbourg are in terrific form on the road with five wins in their last seven away days. They have scored 14 goals in this time but are also rather weak at the back with just one clean sheet in their last five games.

Marseille looking to get back on track

Marseille currently sit 2nd in Ligue 1 but suffered a setback at the weekend as they drew 0-0 with 10th placed Angers. It was a rather poor performance from les Olympiens as they struggled to create anything of real value. However, they did have to cope without star players Dimitri Payet, Boubacar Kamara and Bouna Sarr as the trio were out with suspensions so it should be a different story here as they return to the squad.Â

Before this bore draw Marseille had been flying with ten wins and one draw in their previous eleven matches. They scored 22 goals in this time and conceded just seven to make it an extremely successful run of form and they'll be looking to get back on track here.Â

Marseille will be the hosts for this one which will be a massive boost for them as they have been performing very well at the Stade Vélodrome so far. They have only lost one home match this season and that came on the opening day of the campaign. Outwith that they have won seven matches and drawn three with them continuing to be dangerous at the top end of the pitch with 17 goals scored. However, at home this season they haven't shown the same amount of defensive solidity with just three clean sheets in their eleven games at the Vélodrome.

Strasbourg looking to use away form to their advantage

Strasbourg should be aiming to take advantage of this weak defence here. Les Alsatians got a great win at the weekend to send them into this cup match as they beat Monaco 3-1 in their own stadium. Monaco had been improving under new manager Robert Moreno but Strasbourg managed to stop them in their tracks with a confident victory over les Monegasques.Â

It was yet another encouraging performance from this Strasbourg side that suffered a really poor start to the season but they now sit eighth in the league and are climbing. They have won seven of their last nine matches with 20 goals scored and seven conceded along the way. Their away form has been particularly impressive recently as they have had a number of tricky games recently but have managed to come out relatively unscathed. The Alsatians have won five of their last seven games on the road with just one defeat in 90 minutes coming in this time.Â

An exciting clash at the Vélodrome?

Both of these sides boast strong attacks with slightly incomparable defences so we're expecting goals here. Both teams have scored and over 2.5 goals have been netted in four of Strasbourg's last six matches as well as in five of Marseille's last six home games. We also see this one finishing 2-2 as two of the last three meetings between these sides have ended level. Both teams are in flying form and with Marseille so strong at home while Strasbourg have impressed on the road, we see them cancelling each other out here.Â
