Spanish politician Ines Arrimadas has hit out at Pep Guardiola following his stance on Catalan independence due to his ties to Qatar.

The Manchester City boss spoke out on Monday in opposition to the sentences handed to Catalan political leaders.

Arrimadas, though, reminded him of his role as an ambassador for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

"I admired Guardiola as a player and as a coach," Arrimadas wrote on Twitter.

"But I have to condemn his political stance.

"It's very brave to slander Spain, but he hasn't said a word about Qatar where he made a packet.

"Any ideology fits in our democracy without breaking the law.

"It's not dissent, it's sedition."
