Reason For Romania vs Norway Betting Tips

Norway travel to take on Romania on Tuesday evening, when they'll attempt to go level on points with their hosts, who currently occupy 3rd place in Group F. The Romanians know that a win may be enough to propel them into the automatic qualification places, as Sweden have the tough task of taking on group leaders Spain.

They're not quite in the top two, but the Romanians have enjoyed a pleasing qualifying campaign, winning four, drawing one and losing two of their seven matches. Even when they've lost, Cosmin Contra's men have put up a fight. They're yet to lose by more than a single goal, so it's fair to say that nobody has had an easy time against Tuesday's hosts.

Games against the likes of Malta and Faroe Islands were never going to get Romania out of second gear, but they've not been without tough tests, as they've faced Sweden, Norway and Spain. Contra's side haven't yet beaten any of their three main rivals in Group F, but they have delivered some encouraging efforts, none more so than when drawing 2-2 in the reverse of this fixture. On that occasion, Romania showed that their attacking quality, as they scored twice and created plenty. They also showed lots of character to come back from two goals down. Unfortunately, despite not giving away an abundance of chances, the Romanians, as has been the case against the better teams, seemed easy to breach.

Much the same can be said for Norway, who're three points behind Romania. Like Tuesday's hosts, they've shown attacking promise, scoring in each of their five games against Sweden, Spain and Romania, though they too have looked slightly weak at the back, conceding in each of those five.

Despite being a side that keeps few clean sheets, Norway are not an easy team to get the better of, as the Spaniards found out on Saturday night. Despite going a goal down, the Norwegians stuck to their task, fought hard and found a late equaliser.

On paper there isn't too much between this pair, as the early market reflects. On that basis, a bet on either side to win doesn't really make much appeal. Two bets that do appeal are 'Over 2.5 Goals' and 'Both Teams to Score'. Both Romania and Norway have made light work of scoring goals in Group F, while they both boast pleasing expected goals for averages (1.77 and 1.67). If we consider this in conjunction with the fact that both have shown a tendency to leak goals and it becomes easy to feel that there's value to be had by backing each of the above at the current prices.

'Correct Score' punters can plump for a repeat of June's 2-2 draw, which given the numbers posted by both may just be a tad more likely than the early prices suggest.

Head to Head

This has proved to be a difficult fixture to win for both Norway and Romania down the years, as they've each won just one of the five renewals. When the pair met back in June, they drew 2-2.

Romania Team News

Romania's starting XI is likely to be much the same as it was on Saturday, though Vlad Chiriches could miss out having gone off injured. Adrian Rus is likely to deputise.

Norway Team News

Havard Nordtveit was forced off during the first half against Spain, which means that Even Hovland is likely to slot into defence for Norway on Tuesday.
