St Mirren have lost Vaclav Hladky after the goalkeeper rejected a new contract offer. The 29-year-old played a major role in keeping Saints in the Scottish Premiership during his 18 months in Paisley, especially when saving three penalties in a play-off final shoot-out against Dundee United a year ago. Club captain Peter Hartley and full-back Richard Tait are among the players leaving Motherwell this summer. The club also confirmed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie would be departing as expected, along with midfielder Christian Ilic and forward Christy Manzinga, who both made a limited impact in their sole campaigns at Fir Park. Tony Watt has signed a new one-year deal at Motherwell. The forward, who initially joined the club on a short-term deal in February, has committed for next season. St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin has encouraged his players to use the club's new mental health support service if they are struggling with the lockdown. Saints have partnered with the Paisley-based Kibble Group, a child and youth care charity which became a major shareholder in the club earlier this year, to offer all staff online sessions with psychologists as well as access to a confidential phone helpline. Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson had little time to savour being confirmed as the Ladbrokes Premiership's third-placed team before telling a number of players they were no longer needed during a "bittersweet" day. Rangers moved two points behind Celtic with a game in hand after securing a long-awaited Parkhead derby win on December 29. However, Celtic had opened up a 13-point lead by the time the coronavirus pandemic halted the campaign on March 13, two days before the rivals were due to meet again at Ibrox. Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has called for the Scottish Premiership season to be declared over so the game can address the huge challenge of preparing to return next term. The Uganda Cranes defender admits he is missing kicking the ball after the Scottish league was suspended owing to the Covid-19 pandemic Conor McCarthy returned to the Republic of Ireland with a different football viewpoint after St Mirren's thrashing by Celtic. The 21-year-old centre-back had enjoyed front-foot football with his first senior club, Premier Division side Cork City, before he joined the Saints in January. St Mirren have called in the police after someone flouted lockdown rules by breaking into their stadium and running on the pitch. Footage emerged on social media of a young man on the park at the Simple Digital Arena and the Ladbrokes Premiership club have already passed CCTV footage to Police Scotland. Motherwell chief executive Alan Burrows feels finishing the season is becoming increasingly unrealistic. The Scottish Professional Football League is facing an extremely difficult decision over how to proceed once football resumes following the coronavirus lockdown. Neil Lennon admits the decade since he first took charge of Celtic seems like a lifetime ago. Lennon was handed the reins on a caretaker basis on March 25, 2010 - the day after a 4-0 defeat by St Mirren had spelled the end of Tony Mowbray's brief stint in the Parkhead hot seat. St Mirren skipper Sam Foley fears he might not see keeper Vaclav Hladky back in a Saints kit if the coronavirus shutdown continues into the summer. The Czech stopper has been given permission by Buddies boss Jim Goodwin to return home and wait out the pandemic. St Mirren insist they have no plans to slash wages and are instead discussing signing targets for next season. Relegation rivals Hearts have been forced to ask players and staff to take a 50 per cent cut to their salaries after the coronavirus shutdown sparked a cash-flow crisis at Tynecastle. St Mirren chairman Gordon Scott has assured supporters the club is in a "strong position" to survive the indefinite suspension of football. The St Mirren Independent Supporters Association is scheduled to take a majority stake in the club next year, four years ahead of initially planned after agreeing a deal for Paisley-based charity Kibble to purchase a 28 per cent stake last month. Hearts owner Ann Budge has vowed to take legal action should her club be relegated with eight games left. The Scottish Professional Football League is discussing potential options should there be a lengthy suspension of action. Can the home side finally get back to their winning ways? Read on for all our Scottish Premiership predictions and betting tips. Hearts manager Daniel Stendel admitted his team lacked fight during their 1-0 defeat against relegation rivals St Mirren. Hearts were looking to leapfrog the Buddies but ended the night four points adrift at the foot of the Ladbrokes Premiership with the home team opening up a six-point gap. Jon Obika's 12th goal of the season handed St Mirren a huge victory against Ladbrokes Premiership bottom club Hearts. Obika showed strength and composure to net following Ross Wallace's brilliant long pass to give St Mirren a deserved 1-0 win in Paisley. David Turnbull says he felt he owed it to Motherwell to sign a new contract after thanking the club for standing by him during his eight-month injury nightmare. Alex Jakubiak enjoyed watching footage of St Mirren's play-off celebrations after staving off relegation last season - but he would much rather have the quiet satisfaction of getting out of trouble weeks in advance. St Mirren have no fresh injuries ahead of their Ladbrokes Premiership bottom-two clash with Hearts. The likes of Ilkay Durmus and Alex Jakubiak could come back in after starting on the bench at Celtic Park on Saturday. Both teams have successfully booked their berth in the relegation group this season. With a better overall form, Hearts have more chance to take something out of the clash with St. Celtic took another step towards wrapping up the Ladbrokes Premiership title with a 5-0 win over St Mirren before Rangers claimed a much-needed 1-0 victory at Ross County. Hearts manager Daniel Stendel encouraged his players to show patience in their crucial encounter with St Mirren after sensing a desperation in their play during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Motherwell. Neil Lennon paid tribute to his free-scoring Celtic side after they thrashed St Mirren 5-0 at Parkhead on Saturday. Leigh Griffiths grabbed his first hat-trick in four years to confirm his rehabilitation from a season disrupted by personal problems and injury, with strike partner Odsonne Edouard driving in his 28th of the campaign and midfielder Callum McGregor taking his tally for the season to 13 with a late penalty. Leigh Griffiths claims he was "born for Ibrox" after his hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of St Mirren set Celtic up for next Sunday's Old Firm derby. The Scotland striker scored in the 18th and 44th minutes to put the Ladbrokes Premiership leaders on easy street and, after strike partner Odsonne Edouard notched in the 54th minute, he fired in a third for his eighth goal of the year and 11th of the season.
